Wine Spectator Highlights Four Dundee Hills Wines

November 4, 2024·Press·1 min·

Chris Cardoso at Wine Spectator recommended eight Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays from the Willamette Valley available for under $50. Half of his recommendations come from the Dundee Hills, a sub-AVA of the Willamette Valley.

Cardoso shares a brief history of Veronique Boss-Drouhin, a fourth-generation winegrower from Burgundy who came to the Willamette Valley in the ’80s when establishing Domaine Drouhin Oregon. She landed in the Dundee Hills largely for the “climatic and topographical similarities to her home region,” notes Cardoso. “Here, grapes grow on undulating slopes with deep, iron-rich volcanic soils called Jory, well-suited for Oregon’s signature Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.”

Here are the four Dundee Hills wines featured:

  • Arterberry Maresh – Pinot Noir – Dundee Hills 2022 – Sleek and silky, this Pinot offers vibrant and expressive cherry and raspberry flavors accented by rose petal and dusky spices, gliding on the long, supple finish. —Tim Fish (T.F.)
  • Domaine Drouhin Oregon – Chardonnay – Dundee Hills Arthur 2022 – Refined and focused, with handsome apple, pear, and honey blossom accents that end with a zesty accent.—T.F.
  • Stoller Family Estate – Chardonnay – Dundee Hills Estate 2022 – This handsome white offers refined apple and pear flavors that are laced with
hints of lemon verbena and orange blossoms.—T.F.
  • Domaine Roy & Fils – Chardonnay – Willamette Valley 2022 – Elegant and appealing, this crisp white features citrus and stone fruit flavors that
show accents of honeysuckle and mineral.—T.F.
