Tasting notes:

Nose ~ Bing cherry, cola, spicebox, vanilla & fig

Palate ~ Pomegranate, cherry, cola & toast

Elegance, decidedly balanced with primary fruits of blackcherry and plum and a dollop of five spice: clove, anise, cinnamon and more. All enveloped in our signature aroma of marine air. Intensity. Damp years can sometimes reduce the flavor impact of Pinot noir. This version of 2013 is loaded with saturated flavors developed by 20 months in barrel and time to mature in the bottle. Complexity. We like our Anderson Family Pinots with layers of flavors emerging throughout a long palate expression. Vine age (22 years) contributed to the AFV ’13’s layered length.
Dark, opulent fruit notes of black plum, dried black cherries and black mission fig arise from the glass of this vintage of our Arcus Estate Pinot Noir, blending with a background of deep violet florals and clean forest floor. The palate offers generous flavors of dark, concentrated berry, Oregon blackcap and black raspberry, leading into notes of cacao and orange pekoe tea. Lasting impressions of ripe black fruit melt gracefully into the dark chocolate finish.
This wine opens with aromas of plum, strawberry-rhubarb pie and Hostess cherry Pie. On the palate, it offers flavors of pomegranate, boysenberry and a hint of chocolate.
Aromas of black cherry, orange peel, pipe tobacco, dried roses and cedar chips that mingles with enticing savory notes.   The palate is a seamless mesh of velvety tannins with vibrant acidity and flavors of black raspberry, blood orange, black tea, wrapped in a spicy core of nutmeg and allspice.
This wine was custom crafted for us by Jacques Tardy from the exceptional fruit of Bella Vida Vineyard. Beautiful red garnet color sparkles in the glass.  Aromas of rose pedal, bing cherry and raspberry and spice drift from the glass. On the palate you find elegance and finesse that is lively and has subtle depth. Classic Oregon Pinot Noir mouth feel with layered interest. Finish shows early signs of fine tannins with flavors of red raspberry that linger on the palate.  Enjoy now through 2020.
Robust purple color with intense aromas of cassis, blackberry, spicy chocolate and dried flowers. This generous wine carries a lot of juicy fruit while supporting well-integrated tannins and an elegant finish. A requisite for any Oregon collector. Easily cellar 8-10 years.
Complex aroma of integrated oak and red fruits defined by cherry, subtle toffee, vanilla, raspberry and sandalwood. Smooth entry onto the palate with a delicate structure of fine tannins and medium body. Light red fruit flavors of red currant, cherry and rhubarb deftly play with floral violets moving to a finish balanced with acid and tannin. Aging primarily in 3rd fill barrels has added interesting spices to the aroma while leaving the spotlight on the elegant red fruit and balanced tannins of the Meyer vineyard.
About the Laurène: Named after Véronique Drouhin’s elder daughter, Laurène is our flagship wine, and is produced entirely from Pinot Noir grown on our family’s estate in the Dundee Hills. All of the fruit is handpicked into small totes, destemmed, fermented with indigenous yeasts, and then placed into barrels (French oak, never more than 20% new). Once the vintage is safely in the cellar, Véronique begins the process of selecting barrels which have an extra complexity, length and depth — barrels which will work together as Laurène.
Two Barns vineyard is a low elevation vineyard planted to sedimentary soils of the Willakenzie series. These soils make Two Barns unique to the Dundee Hills AVA, typically known for its red Jory soils. This unique combination of soil and elevation produces dark fruited, brooding wines of intensity and power. The deep, garnet color of the 2013 Two Barns Pinot Noir immediately intrigues the senses. This wine offers a stunning nose that shows strawberry compote and a streak of minerality. The palate opens with concentrated plum and black cherry fruit that leads to ample, plush richness.

Beneath the fruit are beautifully integrated notes of vanilla and savory hints of anise and fennel. With a long lasting finish, this wine is silky, round and smooth and showcases supple tannins that leave you wanting more.

The 2013 Bishop Vineyard Pinot Noir comes from the original block of our property, first planted in 1973. With 100% Pommard clone on native rootstock, it is one of the oldest vineyards in the Dundee Hills AVA. Bright, ruby red in color, the 2013 Bishop graces the glass with a light floral quality on the nose that is followed by leather, spice, and dark fruit tones. Soft tannins fill the palate leading to a full, rich mouth feel that is complemented by balanced acid. Old fashioned cherry pie, plum and a slight earth driven component carry this wine across the palate to a lovely, lingering finish. A beautiful sipping wine that would complement a range of meals from a creamy risotto with fresh herbs, to grilled chicken breast topped with a portabella mushroom reduction sauce. Cellar time will expand the flavor profile and complexity of this beautiful Pinot Noir.
With a brilliant ruby color, this delicate wine reveals cherries, raspberries, violets, dried tea leaf, cedar cigar box, sweet tobacco, and powdered perfume, with hints of cola and baking spice, around a mineral core. This is a medium body wine, with lively acidity, and broad, fine velvety tannin that builds and then fades quickly from the palate. The long finish lingers with a chorus of cherries, tea leaf, cedar box, clove, tobacco, fading violet petals, and Dundee dust.
Warm and comforting aromas of freshly baked berry cobbler, vanilla, spice, cedar and a hint of toasted coffee beans envelope the senses like a favorite sweater. A persistent mouthful of black cherry, pomegranate and balsam coats the palate, lingering pleasingly until the next sip.
The embodiment of elegance and finesse in winemaking, The Four Graces 2013 Foley Family Estate Pinot Noir is perfectly balanced with high acidity and soft tannins. Aromas of pomegranate and rhubarb, mingle with subtle hints of nutmeg, ending with delicate notes of Tahitian vanilla bean. Notes of bright cherry and cranberry greet you on the palate and lead into a lasting finish of red berry fruits.
Our 2013 Weber Vineyard Pinot Noir is the smallest-production red wine we have ever made. Diminished yields (.71 tons/acre) left us with less than half the fruit we expected to receive.

As always, we honor the mature spice tones, bright fruit, and sexy floral tones that the Weber/Ana site is known for. Kitchen spice and herb tea, cola hints, noted whiffs of rose-petals and lilacs are present as well.  Aging was done in 1.5 (that is one and one half!) barrels total- a full-size neutral barrel and a new half-barrel, both French oak, medium-toast.  After 11 months in barrel, this wine was bottled and left for further aging.

We have always thought that our wines should be addressed as “Aromatics first, fruit and acidity second, oak and alcohol third”.  This wine breaks tradition by being 1/3 new oak, and richer than usual.  Thus far guests have LOVED the added layer of complexity that the oak adds.  One of our Wine Club Members described the oakier feel of our 2013 Weber as tasting “like a red chardonnay!”  We like her observation- and we love the wine… we hope you do, too.

Knudsen Vineyards is a storied and iconic Dundee Hills vineyard and winery, owned and operated for 45 years by the Knudsen family since its founding in 1971. Our father, Cal Knudsen, is an Oregon wine industry pioneer. This Knudsen Vineyards 2013 Dundee Hills Pinot Noir is produced entirely from estate grown fruit. Our grapes possess a richness of flavor and complexity unique to our soil and location allowing our winemaking to showcase the full expression of this unique place. Fuller, dark fruit notes combine with predominant red fruit aspects, which both contribute to the wine’s aroma and palate. Earthy and floral elements add lushness, balance and elegance to the wine. We value the power and grace of wine in its ability to help us all connect through conversation, celebration and relationship.
The Dundee Hills Estate Pinot Noir is sourced entirely from the Lange Estate Vineyard planted by Don and Wendy Lange in 1988. The bottling is a pure expression of terroir and displays the earthy minerality of the volcanic soils that the Dundee Hills Appellation is known for. Beautifully red-fruited with exotic spices, this deeply complex Pinot Noir will be an age-worthy addition to your cellar.
Welcome to the “wrong side of the hill”. In 2005, Native Flora established controversial vineyards on steep north slope, high elevation, Dundee Hills’ sites. The resulting fruit produces acclaimed estate Pinot Noirs offering mouth-watering acidity, vibrant red fruit, sandalwood, all spice, with a plush mid-palate capped by a long lasting finish and supple, ample tannins. Despite the challenges of the 2013 “Monsoon” Harvest, tough picking criteria ensured another vintage consistent with our desired goals. Drink now through 2023.
Red cherry, red raspberry nose similarly expressed in the start on the palette of this medium bodied wine with velvety tannins and a dense mineral core trailing into a lingering vanilla and cherry finish with exceptionally balanced acid. Hold until 2019 and drink until 2025.
Rose petal, red fruit and a kiss of mocha and minerality reflect classic Jory aromas and flavor profiles. Feminine, supple, seamless and elegant with silky texture even in its youth, cellaring will result in an absolutely stunning Pinot.
Boysenberry, red cherry, cinnamon, cotton candy, stone chocolate, mineral red earth, noble fruit, cardamom, venison gamey salt. There is power and finesse in the 2013 vintage and the wines have terroir and honesty of the vintage. I expect it to be received as 2010, with many balanced and beautiful expressions of the hand crafted Oregon wine industry.
This wine is particularly special because the grapes come from some of the original blocks planted by the Sokol Blosser family. Our Legacy Cuvée Pinot Noir blends estate grapes from our Old Vineyard and 12-Row blocks. The result is a silky wine with flavors of blackberry and mocha.
Our Reserve Pinot Noir comes from a selection of our best vineyard blocks and barrels in the cellar. It is barrel aged in French oak for 10 months prior to bottling and carefully blended from individual lots to articulate the vintage. The palate displays an integrated balance of ripe raspberry and rose petals, accented by spicy notes on its seamless finish.
The MacDougall is our reserve Pinot Noir and is a blend of Jon’s favorite barrels from the 2013 vintage. Only 65 cases made, exclusive to our tasting room.
The 2013 Olson Vineyard has a sweetly herbal aroma, with blue and red fruit notes of blueberries, boysenberries, and red cherries, and a touch of tobacco. The flavors are juicy and forward dark fruit notes, a mixture of blackberries and boysenberries on a bed of juicy red cherries, herbs and spices and chocolate cola notes. The texture is round and juicy with a long finish with a light dryness.
Juicy red fruits, silky tannins and a solid integrated structure are a few of the 2013 vintage highlights. The nose has a provocative nature that draws you back in for more of the lovely scents of black tea, pie cherries and figs. Once the wine is resting nicely on your palate, you will enjoy the complex and integrated flavors of roasted figs, Oregon black truffle, dark fruits and a hint of dry herbs, freshly plowed dirt. The tannins are soft and sexy, with a nice structure that allows for a long, lovely finish.
Our favorite four barrels from the 2013 vintage, the Heritage showcases the oldest Pinot Noir blocks of the estate. This limited production wine exhibits the earthy notes the Dundee Hills is famous for along with bright fruit and a seamless mouthfeel. The nose is woodsy and floral while the palate shows stone fruit, raspberries and rhubarb.

A barrel selection from our 35 year-old estate vineyard, the wines from White Rose Vineyard consistently embody our winemaking philosophy and what we feel is important about Pinot noir. Fermented 100% whole cluster, this high elevation vineyard produces wines of classic character that convey a sense of beauty.
Clear and bright with a color of dark ruby color. On the nose we find strawberry, blackberry, tea, vanilla spice, rose, coriander, fennel, peppercorn, raspberry, earthy, smokey, bergamot, heady aromas, indian/eastern spices, strawberry jam, basil. Most of these same notes follow onto the palate. There is lively acidity in this wine that easily accompanies the medium body and long and elegant finish.
Aromatic and perfumed with scents of rose-petal, vanilla, and red cherry. Cinnamon and graham give the wine richness and a hint of sweetness. Tannins are delicate and well integrated, coating your lips and the tip of your tongue.
