In 1999, the Ponzi Family recognized the rapidly increasing enthusiasm for wine touring was not supported by sufficient fine dining facilities located in wine country. They took a risk and conceived, constructed and continue to operate The Dundee Bistro in the tiny, but perfectly situated, town of Dundee. From its inception,The Dundee Bistro has been a leader in sourcing fresh ingredients from neighboring farms, ranches and waters, seeking organically produced foods whenever possible. Foods are house made, from pasta to soups, sauces and desserts. Pure flavors of fresh ingredients: vegetables, fruits, wild mushrooms, lean meats, fish often delivered by the fishermen, and herbs from the garden compose the menu. Operating owners, Rebecca and Michel Ponzi, supply olive oil direct from their Italian estate, Casal Cristiana Italian Extra Virgin Olive Oil. The resulting dishes are light, healthy, delicious and beautiful.
The Dundee Bistro and Fratelli Ponzi Fine Food & Wine, their wine bar and retail shop adjacent to the restaurant, showcase the region’s finest wines as well as a wide international selection. Patterned after the many examples the world’s finest wine regions, the restaurant prepares dishes reflecting the highest culinary sophistication accompanied by wines and wine service of comparable excellence within a warm, casual, and friendly atmosphere welcoming tourists, local residents and winemakers still in their overalls and field boots. The menu reflects the goal of extending a comfortable welcome to a divergent clientele.
The wine program for The Dundee Bistro, offers emphasis on local Pinot Noirs, rare vintages and bottlings, as well as an award-winning international selection of the world’s finest producers. The wine program has been recognized by Wine Spectator and Wine Enthusiast for excellence. While wine is the beverage focus at The Dundee Bistro, a complete bar serves classic cocktails, Northwest microbrews on draught and Italian coffees.
