Winter in the Dundee Hills

Seasonal Visitor’s Guide

Winter in the Dundee Hills

Winter offers a season of quiet reflection in the Dundee Hills. Vineyards sink into hibernation after the harvest, and the landscape feels serene and intimate. Picture frost-kissed vines, cozy tasting rooms with roaring fireplaces, and sumptuous wines perfect for the season. It’s a time to slow down, savor, and truly connect with the heart of wine country.

Plan Your Visit

Weather
Oregon’s mild winters offer two major advantages: easy transportation and cozy vibes. While temperatures may dip below freezing, bracing cold is rare here. Winter’s average temps range from the mid-40s to the low-50s.

Be ready for our signature Oregon drizzle—nature’s secret to keeping the Dundee Hills lush and green all year long!

What to Pack
Layering is your best friend for winter adventures in the Dundee Hills. Think sweaters, boots, and a reliable coat. A rain jacket or umbrella will keep you comfortable as you navigate between tasting rooms, where you can warm up while enjoying a glass of Pinot Noir.

Wine Tasting Attire
While some regions lean toward dressy attire for wine tasting, the Dundee Hills doesn’t have a dress code. You’ll fit in if you’re dressed to the nines, and you’ll fit in with denim and boots. Oregon is a come-as-you-are state, and we hold that ethos dear in our tasting rooms.

Winter Events

Winter is a quieter time of year in the Dundee Hills. It’s a great time to receive more personalized service, meet the people behind the wine, and lounging by the fire little longer. Events tend to be smaller. Think cooking classes, wine discovery, winemaker dinners. For a full list of upcoming activities, visit our events calendar.

What’s Happening in the Vineyards

Once harvest concludes, the vines shed their leaves and drop into winter hibernation. Vineyard stewards can be spotted pruning and tying next season’s fruiting canes, laying the foundation for a new vintage.

Meanwhile, in the cellar, the season is all about patience and care. Last fall’s wines have completed fermentation and are settling into barrels to age. Winter guests can look forward to cellar tours and barrel tastings—a chance to savor the beginnings of the year’s vintage and witness the artistry behind each bottle.
