Wooden Heart Pizza Opens in Dundee

Welcome to Wooden Heart, a new – yet familiar – gem nestled in the heart of Dundee Hills, where passion for pizza and a love for their local community come together in a delightful family-run establishment. Owned and operated by husband and wife team, Ryan and Yvette Clark, Wooden Heart is more than just a pizza joint – it’s a true family endeavor.
While Yvette manages the restaurant’s operations and catering wing, Ryan and his sister, Shannon, handcraft every pizza that graces the Wooden Heart menu. Their dedication is evident as they make up to 160 pizzas a night, ensuring each one offers a masterful combination of flavors and local ingredients. Ryan’s best friend since toddlerhood, Micah, serves as general manager.
This February, Wooden Heart celebrates Truffle Month along with other establishments in Newberg and Dundee. Ryan recommends their Oregon Truffle Pizza featuring olive oil, mozzarella, celery root, crispy cauliflower, camembert cheese, chives, and shaved Oregon truffles! A true believer that wine and pizza are a perfect pairing, he recommends a fruit-forward Pinot Noir like one from Arterberry Maresh.
For dessert enthusiasts, they’re featuring a truffle-infused ice cream sandwich with a wildflower honey sugar cookie and toasted hazelnuts – a sweet revelation. He pairs it with a Riesling and the combination of the umami from the truffle with the sweet ice cream, and salty, buttery cookie is unforgettable.
Beyond the delectable truffle creations, Wooden Heart prides itself on being deeply rooted in the local community. Born and raised in Newberg, Ryan’s journey from a local pizza chain to the Dundee Bistro, and then his own food truck is a testament to his passion for pizza. Now, with a brick and mortar location, Wooden Heart is ready to be a staple in the growing Dundee community.
“Pizza is part of our DNA,” he confidently declares. “Everyone loves pizza! It’s at every birthday party and special event. And, as an added bonus, it has the entire food pyramid in it.”
