Welcome Cloudwatch Vineyard

Norm and Kathy Baer moved from Minnesota to Oregon in 2015, having visited the area many times prior. Access to good wine and good food was a big part of what brought them west – as well as an improvement in climate as compared to Minnesota!

After living in Portland for a couple years, they found themselves spending more and more time in the Willamette Valley and decided to look for land to build a house in this area. They bought what is now the CloudWatch Vineyard in 2018, began their house construction in spring 2019, moved into their new home in November 2019, and planted the vineyard in fall 2020.

They planted Gamay and several clones of Chardonnay in the expectation that they will eventually either sell the fruit or lease the vineyard to someone who is making great Dundee Hills wine. They have met a number of vineyard owners, wine makers, and winery owners in and around the Dundee Hills, and feel very fortunate to become part of the “club.”
